All White for Houston’s Inaugural Dîner en Blanc
Houston was the host city for Dîner en Blanc June 14, 2015. Dîner en Blanc has a concept of having a picnic in a secret location where diners are dressed in all white started 25 years ago in Paris. The member only club assembles close to 15,000 people each year all over the world; Europe: Paris, Barcelona, London, Madrid; Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Haiti, Mexico; Pacific: Australia, New Zealand; Africa: Kenya, Rwanda ; Asia: Dubai, Hong Kong, etc.
The night was closed to being describes as magical. Seeing everyone dressed in white and having bringing their best tableware was a treat to see.
The pattern I use for both myself and my sister’s dress was my favorite go to pattern, McCalls 6886. I used a knit that has both a matte and a shiny side for my sister’s dress. Top of her dress was the matte side and the pleats were made using the shiny side. The arm and neck were cut out to her design choice. The bottom was pleated and hemmed.
For my dress, I used floral mesh sequins with a knit under dress. Option F, was used for mines and I cut the front V-neck by 3” deeper and the back V was to my waistline. 7” was added to the side of my dress. The armhole of my dress was cut out using a V-shape.
