Blue and White Tweed Coat
This Vogue 8841 is a great template for creating a statement coat to build your wardrobe around. This coat almost became a UFO (unfinished outfit) considering I started on the coat late September 2016. When the temperatures finally dropped for more than I day, I sped up the finishing process so I could wear before Houston's "winter" was over.
Shorten the sleeves to a 3/4 length makes it the perfect transition piece; Fall to Winter and Winter to Spring. Plus, the shorter coat sleeves allow for showing off lace or ruffles on any blouse. The back vent was lengthen to extend from my lower back instead of below the hip for pure design.
Summary of edits:
- Box sleeve head
- 3/4 sleeve
- Increased length of back vent
- Inside pocket with contrasting pocket lining
The weight of this tweed coat is light and flows with ease. Tweed is so comfortable, versatile, and is often repeatedly seen for multiple seasons. Big fashion powerhouses feature tweed on their runway.
