Spring to the Occasion with a Guy Laroche Dress

Dress: DIY

Guy Laroche was a French designer born 1961-1989.  The brand recently appointed Adam Andrasick, an American designer, as the Creative Designer for the label.

The Laroche brand has designed quite a few patterns for the Vogue Pattern Company and this happens to be one of many in my collection. I started on the dress before being invited to my dear friend, Lisah’s Hats Horses Royalty event at The Houston Polo Club this weekend.  As soon I finish an outfit, it’s time to start on another one, plus finish up a few UFOs (un-finished outfits) as my mom would call them.  I have a great group of friends who love getting together whenever we can, exploring our beautiful city of Houston, so I have to stay ready with a  3°DB number, right?

I love the horses too

This pattern was perfect as is.  Since Houston’s spring seasons are short and sweet and considering I’m petite, the only alteration to this pattern was shortening 5” all around.  The shorten dress will wear just fine in the summer, that’s too close for my comfort.

This fabric is a silk de chine that I purchased at a fabric outlet in Dallas . Considering I hadn’t sewn anything besides knits in a while, I procrastinated with the entire project  from cutting out, all the way to assembly.  However, once the event came up, I quicken everything in time. The fabric was perfect for the design of the dress.  It was so  elegant and comfortable.
